Clay pots, dried chilli,
bowls of steamed rice
Hunan cooking, one flight up in Manchester's Chinatown. Clay pots, dried chilli and big plates for sharing, with a proper vegetarian and vegan range, open since April 2010.

We have been cooking upstairs in Chinatown since April 2010. Climb the stairs and you find a bright room with green banquettes and white tablecloths, and food built for sharing: black clay hotpots, small steel woks on stands and big platters, most of them carrying a serious amount of dried red chilli.

You can book a table or order takeaway; both work well with food made for sharing. For weddings, birthdays and party events, call the restaurant and ask about exclusive deals. And if you need something that is not on the menu, especially vegetarian or vegan, just tell us and we will try to prepare it specially for you.
Order a few dishes between you with bowls of steamed rice; the pots are filling, so start smaller than you think. We run banquet and special lunch menus alongside the a la carte, and we cater for weddings, birthdays and party events.

Diners come back for the big, rich flavours and generous portions. A few dishes with rice easily feeds a table, and several people admit they over ordered and still worked through the pots happily.
Service comes up again and again: staff described as helpful and attentive, happy to guide people through the menu and its spicier corners.
People note how wide the menu runs, from dumplings and whole duck to ribs, steak and offal dishes, with regional Hunan cooking they say is hard to find elsewhere.
